2023 Midseason TV Schedule: ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ Premiere and Return, ‘A Million Little Things’ and More Shows

The new year is upon us! ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX have announced their 2023 midseason lineups, including new TV series and returning favorites.

Fall television premieres get a lot of attention, but now that 2023 has begun, fans will have even more programming to sink their teeth into. For example, Grey’s Anatomy and Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise are returning from their Christmas hiatus.

ABC teased in November 2022 that Ellen Pompeo’s character Dr. Meredith Gray would carry on when the winter premiere airs on February 23.

“Meredith is leaving Seattle to start over,” the network revealed in the first look at the winter premiere of season 19.

Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) jokingly calls out Meredith in the clip for spoiling the fun of his “big last day” at Gray Sloan Memorial, saying, “For God’s sake, Grey, will you let us toast you?”.

Pompeo previously revealed that she would be in a limited number of episodes for the medical drama’s 19th season after playing the show’s main lead for nearly two decades. While Meredith won’t be in front of the camera for most of the season — she’s committed to eight episodes total — the Old School actress will remain as narrator and executive producer.

The new year will also bring new series and season premieres for TV lovers, including season 4 of Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star.

“Family 126 returns home: Tuesday, January 17. ❤️,” the network tweeted in November 2022. “Are you ready for #911LoneStar Season 4?”

Brian Michael Smith, who plays Paul Stickland, teased what fans can expect from the firefighters this season, telling People, “It’s a lot of heat in every way you can imagine.”

Julian Works, who plays Mateo Chavez, chimed in: “The explosions get bigger, there’s going to be some passion, there’s going to be some romance.”

Meanwhile, ABC previously announced that A Million Little Things will return for its fifth and final season in 2023. The network revealed in November 2022 that the show’s last hurray will begin on February 8.

“The time is right to say goodbye,” the cast joked in a social media video at the time. “You join?”

The actors — David Giuntoli, Romany Malco, Allison Miller, Christina Moses, Grace Park, and James Roday Rodriguez — shared a second message with fans later that month to thank them for their dedication as they headed into the final few episodes.

“You’ve been with us through a million little moments over the past four seasons and a million big moments, and we’ve felt your love from the very first episode,” the group said. Thank you for sharing that love with us. Thanks for seeing us every week. And we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you in Season 5!”
