Everything Khloe Kardashian Has Said Over the Years About Her Ever-Changing Look, Facetune Allegations, and More

Khloé Kardashian has been open about her physical transformation since she initially lost weight in 2014, but that doesn’t stop internet trolls from questioning her looks, or the reality star from addressing allegations of plastic surgery and Photoshop.

“Now on my Instagram page people are commenting ‘I liked you better when you were older’ and I’m like, ‘Thank God I don’t live my life for other people because I’d be in constant tug of war.'” Kardashian told Cosmopolitan U.K. in 2015, noting that she headed to the gym in the midst of her divorce from ex-husband Lamar Odom. “I’ve never felt ‘fat’ before, I just didn’t realize how unhealthy I was until I looked at the photos. At that moment I felt so beautiful and I remember walking down red carpets with my makeup done in a sparkly little dress and I thought I was so cute. I had all this confidence.”

While Kardashian has documented her fitness journey, she’s also been candid about her love for the Facetune photo-editing app.

“Facetune is the best thing to bring to the table. It’s life-changing,” she said during an appearance on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix docuseries Chelsea Does in February 2016. “It’s the only way to live.”

Kardashian continued: “It’s not real, you’re presenting the world with what you want them to think you are. It’s amazing. I think our society today is so caught up in getting validation from the social world that no one really knows, so they post these things.

Later that year, the Revenge Body host shut down reports that she had a nose job, asking plastic surgeon Terry Dubrow what he thought of her short-lived talk show, Kocktails With Khloé.

“When you were older, your nose could widen,” Botched’s doctor told him.

Kardashian agreed. “It’s like when you’re pregnant, your nose opens up because there are pockets of fat in there, I guess. So when I lost weight my nose got smaller and now I know about contouring too. Like when I wash my face, my nose is wider,” she said.

(She later revealed that she had gone under the knife during the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion in June 2021. “I had a nose job once,” she explained. “Everybody gets so mad, like, ‘Why not? Talk about it?”)

The author of Strong Looks Better Naked compared surgery to makeup.

“We all put on a f—king mask basically every day anyway,” he said in the March 2016 episode. “When you dye your hair, you’re changing who you are, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I think people should get plastic surgery, fillers, lasers, or whatever if they want to; that should be your own personal decision. I just don’t like it when someone else says, “Man, I only want to date a girl if she has big tits,” and then a girl says, “I have to get double D.” If you want them, great. If you’re doing that for your man, that’s when it bothers me.”

Fast forward to 2020, and Kardashian was still making headlines for her looks. After social media users flooded her Instagram comments section with questions in May, a source told Us Weekly that the reality star doesn’t mind the hate because she’s confident about her looks.

“Khloé doesn’t care about the backlash she’s received from fans saying she doesn’t look like her in her recent photos,” the source told Us exclusively in June. “She thinks it looks great. And [she] doesn’t really care what people think as long as she’s happy.”

However, that doesn’t stop him from applauding or clearing up rumors. Scroll on for the best Kardashian social media responses over the years:

February 2016
Kardashian came under fire in 2016 after eagle-eyed social media fans pointed out that the door frame behind her in a mirror selfie appeared tampered with. He later deleted the photo and uploaded the original photo. “If only I had burned calories, how foolish would everyone be. Too bad not. Here is the photo of OG. The small movement is not cute. Oh and I almost forgot… Namaste 🚪🚪🚪,” she wrote.

The Good American designer later took to her blog to detail why she edited the photo in the first place.

“My right leg is an inch and a half thinner than my left because my muscles deteriorated and never recovered. The reason I’ve had so many of these surgeries, and I always wear a knee brace for my workouts, is because I was in a car accident when I was 16 years old,” he wrote at the time. “Yes, I Photoshopped it, but I was trying to make my skinniest leg look bigger to match my other leg! All I want is big thick thighs and I hate how skinny my legs are.”
