The most popular couples who fell in love on set: From Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds to Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling

Taking your love off screen! Hollywood has shown that some of the best real-life love stories between celebrity couples can blossom on set.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds met on the set of 2011’s Green Lantern. Although the film did not garner critical or commercial acclaim, the only success story to emerge from the project was the co-stars’ relationship.

“It was funny because for about a year after Green Lantern came and went, all of that, we were both single,” Reynolds said on Entertainment Weekly’s “The Jess Cagle Interview” in 2016. “We went on a double date. She was on a date with another guy and I was on a date with another girl. That was the most awkward date for that respective party because we were like fireworks.”

Lively and Reynolds married in 2013. They are parents to daughters James, Inez, and Betty.

Meanwhile, Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling crossed paths while working on 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines. They began dating in 2011 and have since welcomed two daughters: Esmeralda and Amada.

“While I sang, danced, played the piano and had one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on film, my wife was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother [Juan Carlos Mendes] fight against her battle with cancer,” he said at the time. “If she hadn’t taken all that on herself so I could have this experience, surely there would be someone else up here besides me today. So, honey, thank you.”

Not all off-screen romances have ended happily ever after. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth fell in love after working on 2010’s The Last Song. The former couple hit a years-long rough patch in which Cyrus and Hemsworth got engaged, broke up, and dated other people before finally reconciling. They got married in December 2018, but announced their separation almost eight months later.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green began dating on and off starting in 2004 after they met on their previous series Hope & Faith. They briefly split before getting married in 2010. The former couple had another brief breakup in 2015, only for Fox and Green to get back together and welcome their third child.

Green announced on his “…With Brian Austin Green” podcast in May 2020 that the exes had broken up for good. “It sucks when life changes and something that you’re used to, that you’ve been doing for 15 years, you try and don’t undo, but you change,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum said on the podcast. “There’s the unknown aspect…there’s a hole in my stomach…I really don’t want Megan and I to disagree…she’s been my best friend for 15 years and I don’t want to lose that.”

That same month, Us Weekly confirmed that Fox had “hooked up” with his Midnight in the Switchgrass co-star Machine Gun Kelly. In June 2020, Us confirmed that their coworking relationship had officially turned romantic, with a source noting that the pair had a “strong connection.”

Ever since their romance went public, the couple hasn’t shy away from sharing their affection for each other, both on social media and in public. In May 2021, the “Bloody Valentine” singer thanked Fox during her acceptance speech at the Billboard Music Awards, calling her “my soul mate who showed me love.”

Peyton List and Jacob Bertrand
After months of speculation, Bertrand confirmed that he and List have been in a relationship “for a while” after hooking up on the set of Cobra Kai. “We have fun on set and then we hang out off set,” he told TMZ in March 2022, adding that he’s known List since they were teenagers. In fact, he’s friends with her brother, Spencer List, which complicates things a bit.

“It was a little awkward having to say, ‘Hey, I like your sister,'” the actor recalled. As for the fact that the two work together, Bertrand explained that “it’s almost like a litmus test,” while Peyton quipped, “I think about the consequences later.”
